“What is this thing?!”
This past October at the Oregon Bicycle Builders’ Show, Jonathan Maus of bikeportland.org stopped by the booth and was looking at this crazy bike of mine. I tried to sum it up as succinctly as possible: “It’s a mixte off road touring 29er commuter monster truck thing, with a flask cage.” Something like that.
The bike was hanging on a stand at the back of my booth. I’d been riding it for a couple of months without paint, and it had a nice patina of rust going. When Jonathan was done taking in all that information the only question he could think to ask was, “Why?” The only proper answer to that is, “Because I can.”

Travel Commuter
City BikeThe bicycle was built as an around-town, city style bicycle. It's upright and comfortable, quick handling, even with weight in the bag. It's a fillet brazed frame, has a 5-piece fork and double chain stays to complement the style. The frame was painted to be somewhat understated and has subtle box-lining. There's an S & S coupler on the down tube and a breakaway style seat tube joint, which means you can separate the front and back halves of the bike and fit it all in a 26" x 26" travel case. The front rack breaks down as well, and it all fits in the case. This is one of the coolest bikes to come out of the shop in a while.
Ignacio Single Speed 29er
MountainIgnacio's single speed 29er is a beauty. It's got stainless steel lugs with a brushed finish, a five-piece fork, matching lugged stem and all the "enhancements." There are split chain stays and a five-piece seat stay configuration. The single speed 29er has been around for a while, but the beauty of this one is in the details, and in the ride.
